Library Board of Trustees
Seven trustees for the Frankfort City Library are appointed by the governing body of the City of Frankfort, Kansas, and shall be residents of the city. Board members are appointed for terms of four years and until their successors are appointed and qualified. Vacancies on the library board shall be filled by appointment of the unexpired term. The Mayor is an ex-officio member of the board.
The public is welcome to attend all Frankfort City Library Board meetings, which are held on the 2nd Monday of each month. You may check the following calendar for updated information.
Duties of the Library Board of Trustees
Employ a competent library director.
Attend board meetings and see that accurate records are kept on file at the library.
Create written policies to govern library operations and programs.
Determining library purposes and secure adequate funds for programs.
Know your community and its needs.
Support staff and director in carrying out library programs.
Participate in the library’s public relations.
Prepare and approve the annual budget.
Know local and state library laws and support library state and federal legislation.
